Ultra-close detail of the front axle solder joints
of the International three-rail inline chassis. I took close-ups and did a
drawing to show this detail, which is weird, and is the same in all four chassis.
Note that this joint is broken on all four chassis,
and sometimes is resoldered and rebroken!
The joint is a combination of three brass rails, the steel axle and a brass washer,
or eyelet. The washer surrounds the axle and tilts at a
20-30 degree angle, and is soldered completely into the joint. The bottom edge of the washer is
level with the bottom of the 3 brass rails, and would rest on the surface of the jig.
