brass slot car chassis
My Collection 15
A scratchbuilt slot car chassis from Jim Allen's Collection.
Item:
Multi-wire pan chassis (SK/PS 13)
Collector:
Jim Allen
Date collected:
Aug. 20, 2001
Source:
auction
Made by:
John Skeels?
Made when:
late 1970s ?
Notes:
This chassis has it all! Five steel wire and brass pan construction, with iso-fulcrum movement. The side pans are floppy and plumbered. The front half-axles are mounted ahead of the front wheels, which then pivot forward! Springwire stops and tensioners abound. This is another chassis in my
Skeels/ProSlot group
.

Lifting the front wheel to show the iso movement. As the half-axle rotates up and forward, 2 of the 5 rails are lifted up by a wire hook.
Each front wheel and its movement is independent. The iso movement is dampened by a springwire tensioner.
